Our Senior Reservoir Engineer and Machine Learning mastermind Dr. Latif Yalcinoglu held a poster presentation titled ‘Can machines learn to pick first breaks as humans do?’ at the first EAGE/PESGB workshop on Machine Learning in Europe, 29-30 November 2018 in London, UK.

The conference covered the mathematical aspects of physical modelling, linear solvers, risk and uncertainty, uncertainty quantification, data assimilation, reservoir geomechanics etc. – and Daniel Awofodu from our SenEx Support Team presented a paper titled “Revealing Hidden Reservoir Features During History Matching Using An Adjoint Method”.

Sharon Tiainen and Dr Chris Cubitt, HOT’s principal reservoir geologists, attended the First School on Sandstone Diagenesis at the FAU University in Erlangen, Germany. Chris and Sharon were the key note speakers, along with ExxonMobil’s Dr William Heins and leading academics Dr Luca Caracciolo (from FAU) and Dr Saturnina Henares and Prof Gert Jan Weltje (from KU Lueven).
