The transit function, generally part of the procurement process, is aiming at transporting goods from a supplier located at a point of origin to its ultimate consignee in the country of use. In the oil & gas industry, this final destination may be an isolated/remote area with difficult access. This makes the Transit & Shipping function an essential element of operational supply chain efficiency. Transporting industrial equipment from one point in the world to another within the required timeframe and with effective cost control is a condition for the success of oil and gas development projects.
