Production Operation Fundamentals (PRE44)

  • 2-6 February 20255 daysDoha, QatarCourse Fee: 5350 USD

Description

Production operations are all about safely optimizing oil, gas and water production and injection systems by reducing pressure losses and improving flow assurance from the reservoir to storage and to export.
Basic oil, gas and water production systems are reviewed, providing an understanding of how the different elements of the production process are linked. Natural flowing oil well system is described, along with production operations to enhance performance and selecting appropriate artificial lift. Surface and downhole technologies for monitoring production system behaviour are explained along with how their measurements are used to highlight underperforming wells and identify flow assurance issues. Finally, the course shows how production process diagnostics permit troubleshooting of problem wells and help design appropriate well intervention and workover operations.

Course Level: Foundation
Instructor: Antonio Abreu

Designed for you, if you are...

  • A petroleum, production, operations or process engineer, development geologist, oilfield production supervisor, manager or field engineer with a limited background in production engineering

How we build your confidence

The oil field production process and related HSE are introduced, then participants are taken along the flow path, from source to export, of a simple, naturally flowing system. Operations to improve well productivity and flow assurance are described, with examples from performance diagnostics. Well intervention programmes workover operations are listed and explained. The course includes hands-on exercises, break-out sessions to discuss specific production operations problems and short videos. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own case studies for discussion in class.

The benefits from attending

By the end of the course you will feel confident in your understanding of:
  • Production operations in an oil field development and how they relate to one another, from the reservoir face to storage and the point of sale
  • The methods available to monitor, identify and characterise problem well performance and flow assurance issues
  • How to select the most appropriate artificial lift system
  • Well intervention programs and workover operations to improve problem well performance
