Production Logging - Planning, Operations, QC and Interpretation (PPH44)

    Description

The course covers all aspects of production logging including justification for data acquisition, well and reservoir surveillance and monitoring concepts, adequate tool/sensor selection, quality control of raw data, logging program setup, operations risk assessment, interpretation principles and interpretation model setup for single and multi-flow environments.

    Course Level: Skill / Advanced
    Duration: 5 days

Designed for you, if you are...

    • A petrophysicist
    • A reservoir engineer
    • A production technologist

    How we build your confidence

    • The course will be interactive using slides, exercises and videos.
    • Participants will be asked to present every morning a recap of the previous day.
    • Entry & exit exams will be conducted so participants are able to reflect their own learning.
    • Active participation of the participants is a core element of this course.

    The benefits from attending

By the end of the course, you will feel confident in your understanding of:
    • Why a Production Logging Tool (PLT) survey should be run
    • Who are the customers and what are the deliverables
    • Planning and selection of hardware
    • Risk assessment of a PLT operation
    • Quality control of raw data and service company deliverable
    • Setup of an interpretation model for single and multi-flow environment

    Topics

    • Introduction to Well Reservoir Surveillance & Management (WRS/WRM)
    • Planning considerations before running a PLT, well type, trajectory, well condition, completion, fluid type and properties
    • Basics of production logging, basic and advanced sensors, tools combinations, fluid flow, procedures, single and multiple rate flow, PLT vs. Memory PLT, Run-In and Run-Out
    • PLT Examples from oil and gas producers, injectors, hydraulic frac operations

    • Standard PLT string (GR,CCL, Caliper, flowmeter, pressure, temperature), sensor physics, environmental considerations, basic interpretation
    • Inline and full-bore spinner types, limitations, calibration, background, procedures, considerations
    • QC of a field print

    • Setting up an PLT interpretation model, input parameters, interpretation zones, calibration zones, fluid properties QC of model
    • Single fluid interpretation model
    • Multi fluid interpretation model
    • QC of an interpretation report

    • Array sensor tools (e.g. FlowScan, GHOST, DEFT@SLB) use, limitations, interpretation
    • PLT in an injection field environment, methods, considerations, interpretation, Q&A, examples
    • PLT in horizontal wells, methods, considerations, interpretation, Q&A, examples

    • PLT in hydraulic stimulation environment
    • Depth control related to PLT operations (procedures, QC, cables, trajectory, coiled tubing operations…)
    • Risk assessment PLT operations (what can go wrong and how to assess the risks and control them beforehand)
