Seismic Interpretation (GPH50)

    Description

Reflection seismic is essential for subsurface imaging in geology, with 2D and 3D seismic data being key sources of information in the oil industry. Exploration starts with widely spaced 2D seismic data, forming regional quadrangular meshes that help define petroleum systems and high-probability hydrocarbon areas. These areas are targeted for more detailed seismic surveys, either tighter 2D grids or 3D in specific zones. Seismic data, including 4D for oilfields, also aids geothermal, carbon sequestration, and offshore wind energy. This course covers seismic data interpretation, acquisition, processing, and mapping exercises, with a dedicated software and real seismic data.

    Course Level: Foundation
    Duration: 5 days
    Instructor: Gil Machado

Designed for you, if you are...

    • An exploration or development geologist
    • A petroleum engineer
    • An upstream subsurface professional interested in using seismic data as a tool in sedimentary basins

    How we build your confidence

    • PowerPoint presentations for each module, followed by interactive individual and team exercises
    • Examples of tools, test data and interpretation techniques are provided to enable participants to continue their training during and after the course
    • Participants are encouraged to bring seismic lines, logs, and other data from their own companies, when applicable, to interpret real-world examples during the course
