Description
This course provides a comprehensive review of the petroleum geology of North Africa and the main depositional elements across the region, and examines the petroleum systems and play types basin by basin. Designed for experienced geologists new to the region, it is an effective way to build knowledge and understanding of the geological evolution of the region, the main basin and plays, building on 30 years experience of the tutor, who is actively engaged in research and consultancy across North Africa.
Course Level: Skill
Duration: 4 days
Instructor: Jonathan Redfern
Designed for you, if you are...
- A geologist, geophysicist, reservoir engineer or new venture manager new to the region
- A professional wishing to take a broader regional overview to aid exploration
How we build your confidence
The course comprises a series of presentations of the geology of the region. Regional geology data, seismic, field photographs and typical well data are presented as well as reviews of the existing discoveries, current exploration activity, play types and potential for future plays. The benefits from attending
By the end of the course you will feel confident in your understanding of:
- The evolving structural history and depositional systems across North Africa
- The petroleum geology of each main sedimentary basin, including the main petroleum systems, main reservoirs, sources and hydrocarbon generation plus seal and trap types
- Existing discoveries as illustrations of the main plays, as well as potential new plays
- Current exploration activity
